Our tree out front is blossoming already. A couple days of sunshine and the trees around here think it is spring already. Then we always have a heavy wind with rain that washes all the blossoms off of our tree and into our driveway. So now our driveway is full of pretty light pink flowers, all stuck in the puddles of rainwater.
These last couple of weeks I have not done much sewing except finishing Block of the Month (BOM) blocks. Last night I finally finished the last block from my Mary Engelbreit BOM. I cut the sashing strips and the border strips from the finishing kit. I hope to get those sewn up this coming week.
The picture of the four quilt blocks is of the last four BOMs that are from my Saturday Sampler BOM. I was behind in my sewing of those blocks. Last Saturday was the February meeting. I did not have my block finished so I paid $5 for the next month's block kit. I came home that day, cut out the block and sewed it up. The next week I finished the other three blocks that I had not done. Now I am prepared for the March meeting with my block done and ready to go. I hope I don't loose it somewhere in my sewing room which will make me unable to find it on the day of the next meeting! LOL!
Yesterday was February's Quilting 101 workshop. My friend Monica prepared a great lesson on reverse applique. The sample I stitched was a small reverse heart. Then I stitched an outline of a larger heart around the smaller heart. Monica had made a few sample blocks to show the different layouts. It was a great lesson and I feel I improved my reverse applique skills. Reverse applique is not one of my favorite forms of applique, but I am much more confident in my skills now.
Hopefully you are all having a great holiday weekend with lots of family time, and/or sewing time.
Happy Quilting

Wonderful blocks - great work. Ohh the pretty blossoms of spring - I do miss those early blossoms.
You're view is way different than mine today. We're having a winter storm but luckily I love snow so I'm not jealous!
Beautiful Quilt blocks Pam! And yes, our flowering plums are blooming, but the recent heavy rain and wind up her in Sonoma county knocked off a lot of the blossoms. It was pretty today!
When I visit your blog, I always look for purple in your quilts. I don't see any this time.
I love the picture of the tree Pam - and of the quilt. I've done some reverse applique but it's not my favorite thing. I think it's beautiful though. blessings, marlene
Oh, your blocks look so pretty next to the tree. Nothing blooming here yet.
Well, I'm having snow today...and I'm enjoying it. But your flowering tree looks so pretty! I remember that cycle of flowers, then wind and rain, and how it always wrecked the beautiful flowers. We won't have that for probably another 2 months. LOL
Your blocks are beautiful! Don't lose them! Sounds like you've been busy...good for you.
I think we are all getting so spoiled with this lovely Spring like weather and then BOOM the cold is going to hit us again - how's that for a pessimistic though, lol. Your BOM is so pretty, love the colors and the blocks.
